PATNA: Rakshit Meena, the 20-year-old son of Purnia range DIG Bachhu Singh Meena, died at a hospital in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, after being thrashed by a group of youth and bouncers at a nightclub. He was an engineering student of Sikkim Manipal University and the campus is just 35km away from Gangtok.
According to information reaching here, Rakshit was beaten up by a group of five youths and two bouncers at a nightclub following a heated argument over some female dancers.
Gangtok SP Manoj Tiwari told TOI on phone, "The scuffle took place at 1.30am and the police from Sadar police station immediately reached the spot. Rakshit and one of his injured friends were rushed to STNM hospital, where Rakshit succumbed to his injuries a couple of hours later. The medical report says that he died of excess internal bleeding. Although the attackers did not use any firearms or sharp weapons, they badly hit Rakshit at key body parts."
Bachhu Singh Meena reached Gangtok on Sunday evening. He would leave for his native state, Rajasthan, with the body on Monday morning.
Police have arrested five youth and two bouncers of the nightclub.
