PU to remain closed on September 13 & 14

Patna University

(PU) has revised its holiday schedule for Eid-ul-Zuha festival. According to a PU notification, all the colleges and postgraduate departments of the university shall remain closed for Eid on September 13 and 14, instead of September 12 and 13, as was announced earlier. September 12 will now be a working day in PU.

Based on the trials conducted recently, the PU Sports Board (PUSB) has selected the university team for participation in the East Zone

Inter University Badminton Tournament

to be held at Kalinga Institute of Information Technology from October 9 to 12. Following is the team: Abhishek Amar, Utkarsh, Saif Ali Khan, Shashi Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Sandeep Chaudhary, Abhishek Ranjan, Amandeep Singh Khanuja (men) and Aparna Basu, Nidhi, Priya Gupta, Madhu Kumari, Aishwarya Rai, Tanya Vats, Divya Singh and Shubha. A special camp for the selected players would be organized at Magadh Mahila College soon, said PUSB secretary Suheli Mehta.

Vanijya Mahavidyalaya

At a daylong workshop organized at Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, the students were asked to develop their communication skill and team spirit for achieving the desired success. College principal B N Pandey and resource person Abhinav gave some valuable tips to the students aspiring for management courses. College teacher N K Pandey proposed a vote of thanks.

of Geography (Honours) bagged the first, second and third prize, respectively, in a debate competition organized at

Patna College

. The topic of the debate was ‘Modern concept of development is detrimental to civilization’. Altogether 60 students participated in the debate. PU pro-VC Ranjit Kumar Verma gave away the prizes. College principal Dharmashila Prasad welcomed the participants and guests. English department teacher Arjun Kumar conducted the debate. Dipti Kumari proposed a vote of thanks.

Teacher’s memo to chancellor: Bihar Public Service Commission’s former member

Shiv Jatan Thakur

has urged the chancellor to initiate appropriate action against Patna University vice-chancellor for his alleged gross insubordination and public criticism of the authority of his office. In a memorandum submitted to the chancellor, Thakur, who has been suspended, pointed out that even though the chancellor has ordered for revoking his suspension more than a month back, the university is sitting idle. Moreover, the VC has been openly criticizing the various actions of the chancellor, he alleged.
