The budget estimates will now be placed before the senate on December 22 for its approval before being sent to the state government.
The syndicate meeting held under the chairmanship of VC Rash Bihari Prasad Singh also set up a three-member committee headed by senior syndicate member Sudhakar Prasad Singh to inquire into the alleged irregularities in promotion of education department teacher Ashutosh Kumar to the post of professor. Other members of the committee are PU history department head P K Poddar and PU students' welfare dean N K Jha.
The syndicate also approved all the decisions taken by the academic council, including introduction of entrance test for admission to PG courses, inclusion of new chapters on value education in the curricula of PG courses and implementation of the new guidelines for governing the award of PhD degrees, said PU registrar Rabindra Kumar.

Referring to the transformation of capitalist economies to captive economies, Dr Rajagopal underlined the need for investment in IT and skill development by the state.
