PU students win 4 medals at varsity youth fest in Assam

Patna University (PU) students brought laurels to their alma mater by winning four medals at the 31st East Zone Interuniversity Youth Festival held recently at Tezpur University in Assam. All the winners are from College of Arts and Crafts, a constituent unit of PU.

Patna: Patna University (PU) students brought laurels to their alma mater by winning four medals at the 31st East Zone Interuniversity Youth Festival held recently at Tezpur University in Assam. All the winners are from College of Arts and Crafts, a constituent unit of PU. While Gautam Rana was awarded second prize in the clay modelling competition, Neeraj Kumar Sharma was awarded a prize in the on-the-spot painting event. Mayur Kumar was declared third in the poster design competition and Shivram Prasad Koiri was adjudged third in the on-the-spot photography contest.The 14-member PU cultural team at the festival was led by College of Arts and Crafts teacher Shasi Ranjan Prakash. The silver medallists at the zonal level will now participate at the National Youth Festival to be held at Mysore University from February 17 to 22, said PU Cultural Activities Board secretary Atul Aditya Pandey.Bulletin released: PU vice-chancellor Y C Simhadri on Monday released a quarterly bulletin of Vanijya Mahavidyalay titled ‘Vanijyam’ at an impressive function held on the college campus.Releasing the bulletin, Simhadri lauded the efforts of college teachers and students in bringing out such an informative bulletin and encouraged the students to participate in creative activities besides academics.
College principal B N Pandey welcomed the guests and college teacher N K Pandey conducted the programme.Vivekanand jayanti: The NSS (National Service Scheme) of Patna University has made elaborate arrangements for celebrating Vivekanand jayanti on a grand scale on Tuesday. PU vice-chancellor Y C Simhadri will be the chief guest at the function to be held at Wheeler Senate House. The Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) will also celebrate Vivekanand jayanti on its Patna and Gaya campuses on Tuesday. Panel discussion, debate competition and essay-writing competition based on the ideas and teachings of Swami Vivekananda shall be organised for students along with a pictorial exhibition on Vivekanand’s contributions, said CUSB PRO Mudassir Alam.
