Patna: The working of Patna University (
PU) office and its allied units remained virtually paralysed for the last one week due to the agitation launched by the non-teaching employees, but the authorities are yet to initiate any step for resolving the crisis.
Students as well as their guardians are facing a tough time in procuring their documents, including mark- sheets and certificates from the office because of the employees’ agitation.
The Patna University Employees’ Association, which is spearheading the agitation, has decided to intensify the stir from Monday due to the alleged apathy of the authorities towards their demands. The association, at its executive committee meeting held here on Saturday evening under the presidentship of Umesh Prasad, blamed the VC for creating a crisis in the university by delaying the implementation of their genuine demands. The funds pending with the state government for implementation of ACP scheme is likely to lapse this month as PU has not placed its demand till date. Their other demands have also got necessary approval from the government, but the VC is deliberately delaying their implementation, the association alleged.
Meanwhile, the proposed two-day dharna to be offered by the non-teaching employees in front of the state legislature on March 17 and 18 at the call of Bihar State University and College Employees’ Federation has been postponed due to some unavoidable reasons. Now the employees would remain on mass casual leave and stage two-day dharna in front of the legislature on April 16 and 17, said association secretary Braj Kishore Singh.
