PATNA: The first semester post-graduation examinations of

Patna University

(PU) in the faculties of arts, science and commerce commended on a peaceful note at all the centres here on Friday. About 1,400 boys and girls are taking the examinations.

PU controller of examinations R K Mandal said no report of adoption of unfair means was reported from any centre.

Earlier, the third semester

PG examinations

of the university started on Thursday. Both the examinations of first and third semesters would be completed by December 23, Mandal said.

Meanwhile, the PU has also announced the detailed programme of Degree Part III honours examinations in science, arts and commerce streams. The examinations would commence on February 27. Degree Part II and Part I examinations would be held in March and April, respectively.

The second and fourth semester PG examinations would be held in May and the final results of all examinations of 2017 would be published latest by June 30. The programme of examinations of vocational and self-financing courses (both undergraduate and postgraduate) has also been announced and they would also be completed latest by the end of May, the examination controller added.

NSS camp: A special weeklong National Service Scheme (NSS) camp organised by Patna Science College was inaugurated by PU pro-VC Ranjit Kumar Verma here on Friday. The theme of the camp is ‘Mobilising youth towards digital India’. About 100 NSS volunteers of the college are attending the camp.

Verma appealed to the students to create awareness about digital economy and cashless transactions in their neighbourhood. College principal M N Sinha, PU chemistry department head Radha Kant Prasad, NSS programme coordinator

and NSS programme officers Sanjay Kumar and D K Paul also addressed the students.

Cleanliness drive: The NSS volunteers of

Vanijya Mahavidyalaya

cleaned the ghats of the Ganga at

Darbhanga House

and apprised the people of the importance of cleanliness. They also took out a procession carrying banners and posters depicting the importance of water conservation and cleanliness. College principal B N Pandey and NSS programme officer Chandan Kumar addressed the students.

The five-day annual sports of Vanijya Mahavidyalaya also commenced on Friday. A number of students participated in different events on the first day.

Cricket tourney: A 14-member PU team led by Aruna Chaudhary of Magadh Mahila College left Patna on Friday to participate in the East Zone Inter-University Cricket (Girls) Tournament being held at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. PU vice-chancellor Y C Simhadri, students’ welfare dean Dolly Sinha, PU Sports Board president Javed Hayat and secretary Suheli Mehta wished the team all the best.
