Patna University can become world-class university: Governor Lalji Tandon

The governor also lauded the progress made by the eighth oldest university of south-east Asia in maintaining its academic calendar, digitization of students’ degrees and ensuring their safe custody in the National Academic Depository. He also hailed the complete automation of the admission process, implementation of choice-based credit system and PhD admissions as per the UGC regulations of 2016.
“If sincere efforts are made by all the stakeholders, the university would soon attain its past glory,” he said.
Tandon admitted the university was suffering on academic front due to acute dearth of teachers. But, he said, he has authorised the vice-chancellor to appoint teachers against sanctioned posts on contract basis through a proper procedure for the period until regular appointments were made.

At the outset, PU vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh, in his welcome address, announced that PU as well as its constituent colleges would be accreditated by the NAAC within a year. The university has been signing MoUs with the premier institutions for undertaking collaborative studies and it will soon have a National Dolphin Research Centre.
The Saidpur complex, the VC said, is also being developed with the establishment of institutions like Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, PG department of applied economics and commerce and UGC HRD Resource Centre.
Governor’s principal secretary Vivek Kumar Singh , PU pro-VC Dolly Sinha and registrar Manoj Mishra also attended the function.
Governor launches PU mobile app: Governor-cum-chancellor Lalji Tandon on Monday launched a student-centric Patna University mobile app on the PU’s Foundation Day. This app has been developed by PU with the support of Department of Telecommunications to help students get access to critical features for the information relating to their academic needs. The app is available on Google Playstore and has prominent features like campus connect, news and announcements, anti-ragging measures, class schedule, email integration, tracking of college events, downloads and messages. Most importantly, this app would facilitate digital payment for admission, tuition and examination fees.

presented gold medals to as many as 43 toppers of undergraduate examinations on the occasion. Girls once again outshone boys by annexing 24 of the 43 gold medals. Also, the maximum number of toppers (14) were from Patna Women’s College alone.Magadh Mahila College
