Prospects of geotourism highlighted
PATNA: The prospects of promoting geotourism with the help of geophotography were discussed at a function organized by the Geological Society of Patna Science College here on Wednesday.
Introducing the concept of georourism college, head of geology department and geological society president Atul Aditya Pandey said geotourism enhances the distinctive geological characters of a place — its environment, heritage, aesthetics and culture.

He said geophotography is a subfield of geology that involves the use of photography or other imaging techniques to realistically record objects, features and processes of geological significance. Presentation of geological data becomes quite easier through photographs, he said.
Lucknow-based scientific photographer and alumnus of local College of Arts and Crafts, Ankit Ranjan Pathak made a beautiful presentation of lively photographs of the Himalayan mountain ranges of Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh along with the natural resources of Bihar, Odisha and Rajasthan.
Patna University geology department head Ramesh Shukla and college principal Radha Kant Prasad also expressed their views.
SRCS: Shri Ram Centennial School on Wednesday organized a Hindustan Scouts and Guide programme for students’ physical, mental and spiritual development. More than 100 students participated in the event inaugurated by school principal Smita Joshi, director Sunil Kumar and scout and guide programme officer Niraj Shrivastav.
