PATNA: A special MP-MLA court in Patna on Monday issued a production warrant for appearance of incarcerated RJD chief
Lalu Prasad before it on December 2 in connection with a defamation case filed by Uday Kant Mishra, a member of
Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, for dragging his name in the multi-crore Srijan scam.
Lalu, after being convicted in fodder scam cases, is presently serving jail term and is undergoing treatment at Riims, Ranchi.
The court has directed the jail authorities to produce him before it for hearing in the defamation case. Lalu’s counsel Rajniti Prasad told TOI over phone that Mishra had filed the case on October 31, 2017. “The court took cognizance in the matter on May 19 last year,” he said. “The petitioner has alleged that he had been unnecessarily linked with the Srijan scam by the respondent,” he said.
Lalu, while addressing a public rally at Bhagalpur on September 10, 2017, had raised question as to why CM
Nitish Kumar resides at his (Mishra’s) residence instead of using circuit house. Initially, Mishra had served legal notice on Lalu and his son Tejashwi after their speech and sought apology from them. Later, he filed a defamation case against Lalu. tnn
