Preparations in full swing for NDA’s rally

PATNA: Preparations are in full swing for NDA’s Sankalp rally to be held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in the state capital on March 3. PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar will address the first joint political rally after JD(U) joined hands with the BJP again in July 2017.

Functionaries and workers of the three NDA partners — BJP, JD(U) and LJP — have hit the streets in rural as well as urban areas to garner support for the rally. JD(U) sources said several trains, buses and SUVs have been booked for facilitating people to attend the rally.

As part of the preparations, senior BJP leader and deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday flagged off a Sankalp Rath while Lok Janshaki Party state president Pashupati Nath Paras launched an awareness campaign to garner people’s support to make the rally a grand success.

The BJP also launched ‘Kamal Jyoti Sankalp Abhiyan’ on Tuesday. Under the campaign, earthen lamps will be lit in every house between 6pm and 8pm every day. Campaign in charge and party’s vice-president

said senior leaders have been asked to take part to inspire the grassroots party workers and supporters.

BJP state president Nityanand Rai said the campaign was aimed at giving honour and respect to the martyrs of the country and make people aware of the development works carried out by the NDA government in the state.

Paras said the workers of LJP and Dalit Sena were engaged in making preparations for the proposed rally. “Committees have been formed at the panchayat level to ensure participation of more and more supporters in the rally,” he said.

The members of the party’s executive committee, district presidents and in charge of districts have been assigned the task to enthuse the supporters and sympathizers to actively participate in the rally. “Adequate arrangements are also being made in Patna for their night stay, food and lodging,” Paras said.

Meanwhile, the officials of Patna district police and civil administration were busy in chalking out strategy to deal with people expected to attend the rally in large numbers.
