About 1,500 students, including a large number of girls from different state universities, will participate in the 32 events to be held during the meet. It will be the largest event for the one-year-old university as PPU came into existence on March ’18 last year after bifurcation of

Magadh University

. It has 25 constituent colleges of Patna and

Nalanda

under it.

PPU pro-VC GK Choudhary said, “The Raj Bhavan has assigned this mega event to this university for giving an exposure to the cultural talents of students in diverse fields on a state-level platform. The venue will be

Patliputra Sports Complex

.”

Started in 2008 at the initiative of the Raj Bhavwan, the Tarang programme was suspended for a couple of years and revived last year when LNM University, Darbhanga, hosted it. Chaudhary said vice-chancellors of all the universities would be invited to attend the event.

“PPU would soon issue direction for organising inter college cultural event for selecting the team of about 100 students to participate in Tarang,” added Chaudhary.

Coordinator of the event, VK Mangalam said, “The events include Hindustani and Karnataka music, instrumental, cultural and folk dances, elocution, quiz, skit, mime, clay modelling, spot photography and others. The host university would have to arrange boarding of all participants, trainers and coaches. A special magazine ‘Patliputra ki Virasat’, will also be released during the event.”
