PATNA: Bihar Policemen's Association has accused superintendents of police (SPs) and commandants of not reimbursing the expenditure made by policemen on their and their dependents' medical treatment.
According to government orders, expenses up to Rs 20,000 incurred on treatment of policemen and their dependents in government hospitals can be reimbursed by the order of their controlling officer.
For expenses over Rs 20,000 and up to two lakh, the controlling officer would forward the proposal to the state police headquarters for approval.
"Leave apart dependents, the controlling officers are not reimbursing even the expenses incurred on treatment of policemen," association president Jitendra Narayan Singh said on Thursday.
Singh said, instructions issued by the police headquarters for reimbursing the expenses are not being followed by controlling officers posted in field. He also expressed surprise over the callousness of the police headquarters towards the matter. "We demand implementation of the government orders in the interest of 65,000 policemen of the state," Singh said.
