<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">PATNA: Despite the elapse of 48 hours since the attack on the life of Bihar Policemen’s Association (BPA) Jitendra Narayan Singh, the police are yet to make any breakthrough to trace the gang involved in this incident.<br />Meanwhile, the police could not record the statement of Singh till late evening on Sunday.
Singh was shot at and injured near the Bank Road under the Gandhi Maidan police station on Saturday. Singh is at present struggling for his life in the emergency ward of the Patna Medical College and Hospital. <br />According to a doctor available in the ward, Singh’s health condition is stable, but he is still not out of danger. On Sunday, former Union minister Ramvilas Paswan visited the hospital and met Singh.<br />However, the police are groping in the dark over the reasons which led to the incident. <br />“Without recording Singh’s statement, we cannot proceed with the investigation of the case,� said a police officer of the Gandhi Maidan police station while preferring anonymity. Till late evening, the police reportedly could not lodge an FIR in this connection. Bihar state Non-Gazetted Employees’ Federation has criticised the attack on the BPMA president. <span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Arms raid:</span> The Special Task Force (STF) has reportedly informed the police chiefs of several districts including Patna, Nalanda, Saran and Gaya about the locations where arms were supplied by Subodh, manufacturer of countrymade arms. Subodh was arrested by the STF along with three others from a house in Lohanipur area under the Kadamkuan police station here on Friday night. <br />The police also recovered different spare parts used for manufacturing pen pistols. Subodh, during his interrogation, disclosed he had supplied about 1,200 arms in different parts of the country in the last two months.<br />Incidentally, Subodh is a native of Chiksohara village of Nalanda district, infamous for manufacturing countrymade arms on largescale. Police sources said he established himself in Patna while seeking a better market for countrymade weapons. <br />His concept of manufacturing pen pistols is considered a new model of countrymade weapons. However, the police are yet to get concrete information about the pellets used in this mode of pistol. Police believe the manufacturers were using pellets filled with “cyanide� in these pen pistols.<br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">One killed in mishap: </span>One person was killed on the spot when a vehicle hit him in an area under the Maner police station on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Nand Kishore Sah. </div> </div>
