Patna: Though no arrest has been made so far in the SI Suresh Thakur (58) murder case, Patna police have zeroed in on three criminal gangs of the state. SI Thakur was gunned down on April 18 under the Barh police station area in the district. The assailants had also looted his firearm.
Some vital clues indicate the involvement of three gangs linked with Barh, Mokama and Nalanda, said SSP Manu Maharaaj on Saturday.

He said police were trying to zero in on three criminals of the gangs. "They are professional killers and have been running the gangs for more than six years. Some had been jailed earlier and we would arrest them soon," he said.
He added the investigation into this case also indicates the involvement of the same gang in shooting at retired SI Bhuvaneshwar Prasad in Nalanda on March 16. He had survived the attack.
"There is striking similarities in both the cases and intelligence input also indicates that the two incidents are linked," the SSP said and added that both were hit in skull from behind.
The SSP said rage, revenge and loot seem to be the modus operandi of the criminals. The criminals are marking target of those officers who are on the verge of retirement or are retired.
