Police to reconstruct scene at Phulwari in student death case
Patna: Patna police are set to recreate the incident scene at the multi-storey building in Phulwarisharif area, where a Class XI student tragically fell to her death, as part of their ongoing investigation into the suspicious circumstances.
The incident occurred on Thursday (Feb 12) morning, when the 16-year-old girl arrived at the private coaching centre, which was running on the first floor of the building, at around 7.45am. CCTV footage shows her entering the premises and rushing upstairs, followed by two youths, before she fell from the top floor of the five-storey building. Her body was found on the road shortly after, at around 8.12am.
The girl’s family alleged murder, claiming she was assaulted and pushed from the height. They pointed to visible injury marks on her body. The postmortem, conducted by a medical board at the AIIMS-Patna, did not confirm any evidence of rape or sexual violence. The exact cause of death—whether accidental fall, suicide, or homicide—remains pending, with investigators awaiting detailed analysis.
Phulwarisharif SHO Ghulam Shabaz Alam said a guard from Paliganj and three carpenters from Arwal and Jehanabad, who were at the building at the time of the incident, were detained for questioning. “Their polygraph test will be conducted after the court’s permission. We are questioning the girl’s family, friends and teachers of the coaching classes to get some clues in the case,” he said.
“As of now, the exact manner of the fall remains undetermined, which is the primary reason for the recreation exercise. The requisition was sent to the FSL and they formed a team for the recreation of the scene. The autopsy mortem report did not mention rape, but we are sending the swab to the FSL,” the SHO told TOI.
The medical report mentions injuries in several places and broken bones. “The injuries seen on the body could have been caused by a fall from a height. Now, the FSL report will clarify the situation further,” the police said.
