Police to conduct auditof traffic management
Patna: The Bihar police, on Tuesday, signed an MoU with a non-profit organisation to conduct a scientific and evidence-based summary audit of traffic management facilities in five major cities of the state to reduce the severity of accidents.Bihar is in the second position among the top 10 states in the country in terms of accident severity index and fatality rate. According to the Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India-2022 data released by the National Crime Records Bureau last year, altogether 8,898 people died and 7,068 sustained injuries in the 10,801 road accidents reported across the state in 2022, as compared to the 9,553 accidents in 2021.Traffic ADG Sudhanshu Kumar said around 83% of the motorised vehicles in Bihar are two-wheelers. “The non-profit organisation will conduct the summary audit in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Biharsharif,” he said, adding that every state, city, and town has its pattern of traffic movement as all are different in geographical, cultural, and social aspects.
