and Vaishali police arrested Rajkapoor Sah (25) from his residence at village Patepur under Kartaha police station in
Vaishali district
on Sunday and recovered altogether Rs 3.74 lakh from different locations looted from State
Bank
of India’s (SBI) branch at Chandrahathi under Kurhani police station area in
Muzaffarpur district
on June 5.
Altogether Rs 18.92 lakh was looted from the branch by six armed criminals after taking customers and bank employees on gun point. The criminals had also taken away the CCTV camera recorder from the bank.
Muzaffarpur SSP Harpreet Kaur said Sah along with his gang was also involved in Rs 10 lakh loot from Union Bank of India branch at Baidnathpur under Mahua police station in Vaishali district on May 14.
She said a country made pistol and two live cartridges were also recovered from Sah’s possession. Criminals had also looted a customer’s car from outside bank during the Mahua loot while fleeing.
“Sah had provided names of 12 gang members involved in the two bank loots and other crimes,” she said adding further interrogation were on. She said one of the gang members were from Muzaffarpur while rest were from Vaishali.
Kaur said Sah was among the six criminals who had entered inside SBI branch during loot. She said joint police team were putting efforts to recover rest of the looted money.
Kartaha police station SHO Lal Bahadur said that Rs 2.44 lakh was recovered from Sah’s residence while Rs 50,000 each were recovered from residence of criminals Pankaj Pandit and Dhapki located under Sadar police station area in Vaishali.
“Rs 30,000 was recovered from residence of Shivji Paswan at village Bhatoli Bhagwan under Kartaha police station area. Apart from the two bank loots, the gang had also looted around Rs 4 lakh from a bike showroom at Bhagwanpur in Vaishali on May 9,” Bahadur said.
He that Sah had come out of Hajipur district jail mere a month back. “He was behind bars for more than a year for drug smuggling and seizure of firearms,” SHO Bahadur said.
Bahadur said after coming out of jail, Sah and his associates had planned for making quick money by bank loots instead of doing petty crime and going to jail.
