Police of three districts in search of kidnapped Rashmi
Patna: The district police of Katihar, Supaul and Araria are searching the five-year-old girl Rashmi Agarwal alias Sparsh, who was kidnapped from her school bus while returning home in Katihar district on Wednesday. Rashmi is the daughter of businessman Bhanu Agarwal and Sapna Agarwal.
“Police teams, led by Katihar SP Siddharth Mohan Jain, Araria SP Sudhir Podika and Supaul SP Kumar Ekle are conducting raids in different areas of the three districts,” said DIG (Purnia range) Upendra Kumar Sinha. He also said the SDPOs of Forbesganj, Araria sadar, Birpur of Supaul and Katihar sadar are conducting raids based on the last mobile phone tower location of the alleged kidnapper Mithun Paswan before he switched off his cellphone.
Katihar SP said that Mithun, who along with his friend Awadesh Paswan lifted the girl from her school bus at Kursela, were being guided by other people whose identity was being ascertained. He said police were looking into the call detail records of both the suspects. “We have not been able to nab the lifters yet, but raids are being conducted in several districts,”Jain said.
He also said former RJD Rajya Sabha member Naresh Yadav’s son Sanjay Yadav and his friend Sunil Singh had been sent to jail on Saturday for making extortion call to the aggrieved family and violation of prohibition law in the state.
“The former MP and Rashmi’s grandfather were friends due to which he had access to the family’s phone numbers and made a hoax ransom call,” the SP added.
