ARA: A woman constable posted at the Koilwar police station in Bhojpur district had to bear the humiliation of being slapped by a fellow police driver in full public view on Tuesday.
A video being verified by the police went viral showing the woman constable being slapped hard by the constable driver named Aatish Kumar when she tries to intervene from behind. The woman constable was seen visibly shaken and protested the ill-treatment meted out to her vehemently.
The incident took place at Koilwar when the police had gone to ward no. 5 to inquire into a case filed by one Md Miraz Jafar against his next door neighbour Md Shamim Ahmad, accusing him of forcibly constructing a house on a disputed land.
Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar told the media persons on Wednesday that he has sought the veracity of the video. "A special investigation team led by DSP (Sadar) has been constituted and asked to suspend the accused police driver within 24 hours. Further action will also be taken as per the provisions of the law," he said.
