Police crackdown on fake ‘police mitra’ recruitment
Motihari: East Champaran police have formed four special investigation teams to arrest the members of a gang of fraudsters who are cheating unemployed people of the state by promising them jobs of ‘police-mitra’.
The police have already arrested two accused, Asraf Kamal from Chiraiya near Motihari and Vinit Kumar from Muzaffarpur, in this regard.
SP Swarn Prabhat said during interrogation Vinit revealed that one Ashok Samrat of Samastipur and his two associates Dharmendra Kumar and Rakesh Kumar are running this job racket in different districts of state and he was appointed by them to contact the candidates to assure them jobs of ‘police mitra’ after charging a fee of Rs25,000.
After disclosure by Vinit, the SP has announced a reward of Rs15,000 on the gang leader Ashok and Rs10,000 each on Dharmendra and Rakesh. The police have assured that the names of informants will be kept secret.
According to police, the fraudsters have ‘appointed’ 24 youths of East Champaran as ‘police-mitra’. Under the guise of NGO, the gang lured unemployed people with a salary of Rs16,000 per month and they were given fake training in Muzaffarpur, Saran and Patna.
The SP has also ordered an investigation into the suspicious role of police officers and some people in the digital media business for their alleged involvement in the racket. The SIT is conducting raids in Muzaffarpur, Patna, East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran and Samastipur to nab the gang members.
