PATNA: In a noble move aimed at providing a platform to talents from Bihar, the Pukhraj Foundation on Tuesday organised ‘Kalavrishti’, a cultural evening that saw budding talents perform at Kalidas Rangalaya in the city.
“The initiative is praise-worthy. Bihar has no dearth of talents from the field of arts and culture, and the state government is also at work to promote these unsung artistes,” minister of art, culture and youth affairs Shiv Chandra Ram said while inaugurating the event.
The state government, the minister said, will soon organize a ‘Vishwa Kavita Samaroh’ to promote poets as poetry plays an important role in capturing the state’s rich traditions. “We are also inviting folk singers from remote areas to showcase their talent at state-level functions,” he said.
IG of police Kamal Kishore, who is the patron of the Pukhraj Foundation, said Tuesday’s event was a small step towards a big goal. “The Foundation will make concerted efforts to identify native music and theatre talents and expose them to a wider audience,” said the IPS officer who has just returned to the state from central deputation.
Foundation secretary Kumar Abhishek Ranjan announced the launch of a website -- www.livepatnatheatre.com, which will serve as a digital platform for native artistes.
