PATNA: Patna University (PU) is likely to start inviting online applications for admissions to conventional (MA, MSc and MCom) and self-financed postgraduate (PG) courses in the 2024-25 academic session on Wednesday, said dean of students’ welfare Anil Kumar on Monday.

It, however, is yet to announce the schedule of admission, even as the process for the undergraduate courses, both in conventional and self-financing courses in the new academic session is underway.

Kumar said the earlier schedule for inviting the online applications for PG courses was from June 15, but there was a slight delay as the university had been waiting for the inspection report of the Bar Council of India (BCI) on the law courses at Patna Law College.

“The BCI has not yet granted its approval. Admissions to the LLB and LLM courses can commence only after BCI releases a favourable report, but we have started the process for other courses,” he said.

Admission to all 28 conventional PG courses running under the choice-based credit system will be made on the basis of the marks obtained by the students in the last qualifying degree examinations.

For self-financing (vocational) courses, admission will be on the basis of an entrance test to be organized by the university.

There, however, will be no entrance test for those self-financial courses whose total number of applications is less than 150% of the sanctioned seats. The applicants in these courses would be admitted on the basis of their undergraduate marks and personal interview, said the dean of students’ welfare.
