Patna University pupils take pledge to protect wildlife
PATNA: The Wildlife Week celebrations, organized by the department of environmental science and management of Patna University (PU), concluded on Monday with the students taking a pledge to work whole-heartedly for conservation of nature and protection of wildlife.Giving away prizes and certificates to the winners of various competitions organized during the week, state’s principal chief conservator of forests D K Shukla said conservation of wildlife was essential for the survival of human beings and all other creatures on the Earth. He asked the students to visit Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve for understanding the significance of wildlife conservation and promotion of biodiversity.PU vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh said students should come up with suggestions for conservation of wildlife.PU zoology department head P Nath welcomed the guests. PU science faculty dean Radha Kant Prasad and environmental science course coordinator also addressed the students. Arvind Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.Students who were awarded prizes in different events included Shambhavi Jha, Ambreen Tabassum and Kanij Fatma (poster competition); Sofiya Yasmeen, Neha Naz, Md Masrron Zafar, Sonu Kumar Sah and Abhilasha (speech competition); Tejaswini, Shambhavi Jha and Lata (quiz competition) and Shreya, Vidushi Singh and Sofiya Yasmeen (painting competition).
