Patna Sahib MP performs ‘pinddaan’ in Gaya
In a heartfelt ceremony at the Vishnupad temple in Gaya, former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad took part in sacred ancestral rites, honoring revered leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He praised the meticulous arrangements and expressed a desire to initiate a 'Gaya shradh' for fallen soldiers, a topic he plans to bring up with the defense minister.
Gaya: Former Union minister and Patna Sahib BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday performed ‘pinddaan’ and ‘tarpan’ at the Vishnupad temple, and offered prayers for his ancestors as well as several national icons, including Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.In a brief interaction with media persons after performing the rituals, Prasad said, “I felt great peace and satisfaction at the Vishnupad temple. The arrangements here are very good. One thing has come to my mind about which I will talk to the defence minister, if Gaya shradh can be performed at Vishnupad temple for the martyr soldiers of our nation.”

The BJP leader reached Gaya with wife Maya Shankar and son Aditya Shankar. The Vishnupad temple management committee had made separate arrangements on the temple premises for performing the rituals. Senior Gayapal panda Manilal Barik guided Prasad to perform the rituals at Vishnupad temple, Akshaywat and in Falgu river.
