Patna Metro may see light of the day

In a meeting with the state urban development and housing department (UDHD) minister Maheshwar Hazari in New Delhi on Tuesday, union minister M Venkiah Naidu assured full support from the centre and said construction of metro in Patna was his priority.

PATNA: In a meeting with the state urban development and housing department (UDHD) minister Maheshwar Hazari in New Delhi on Tuesday, union minister M Venkiah Naidu assured full support from the centre and said construction of metro in Patna was his priority. The central minister also instructed all the departments concerned to speed up their work and present the report to him soon, informed Hazari.
While talking to TOI over phone Hazari said, “Our government has already approved this project in the cabinet.

We are waiting for centres nod, and after today’s meeting the central urban minister has assured of in principal approval within a month. Once we get that, there would not be delay on our part.”
Hazari also said that discussion has already been done with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which would be providing 70% financial assistance to this Rs 16,960 crore project, rest 30% would be given by the Central and state governments (15% each).
