Patna: Patna DM Thiyagarajan S M on Tuesday announced the formation of various cells to monitor the model code of conduct (MCC) and oversee election-related activities. The units include the MCC cell, law and order cell, and election expenditure monitoring cell. He was addressing a district-level standing committee meeting.
To maintain law and order and ensure strict compliance with the MCC, 49 flying squads, 183 static surveillance teams, 42 video surveillance teams and 42 video viewing teams will be deployed.
The DM said once the
Election Commission of India issues the press note, the MCC will come into effect across the district. He stressed that it is binding on all stakeholders, including govt officials, employees, and political parties. Officials must discharge their duties neutrally during this period, he added.
He also informed that 563 sector officers have been deployed as per ECI guidelines.
A single window cell will operate at both district and sub-divisional levels to provide approvals for public meetings, rallies, processions, loudspeakers, campaign vehicles, and the use of non-commercial airports and helipads. Approvals will be granted to political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders on a first-come, first-served basis.
