The incident took place in a room at Bengali Colony on road number 1 of Indira Nagar. The deceased toddler was identified as Abhinav Kumar, the only child of Phalguni Pandey. the other two injured were 19-year-old Sonali and 20-year-old Sujeet alias Golu.

Jakkanpur police station SHO Mukesh Verma said an FSL team was called to find out the cause behind fire. "But one thing is clear that it did not occur because of LPG cylinder blast as the cylinder in the adjacent kitchen was intact. However, the room was badly burned and there was smell of kerosene inside," he said.
