: The 96th birth anniversary celebration of former CM and extremely backward caste (EBC) leader

by Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) was a low-key affair on Friday. The BJP, on the other hand, chose the occasion to criticise the Congress and RJD for “neglecting” EBC sections as far as job quota is concerned.

RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha led his party’s ‘maanav kataar’, which was formed by students on the Miller School ground here. However, barring the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni, other Grand Alliance functionaries were conspicuous by their absence at the event. “These parties had their separate programmes to celebrate the day. There is no rift in the Grand Alliance,” Kushwaha said.

Meanwhile, senior BJP functionaries reminded the EBC sections of the way the Congress and RJD “neglected” their job quota interests. State BJP president Dr Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, several ministers and MLAs also addressed the gathering.

Modi said the RJD has only three MLAs from the EBC sections compared to 12 from the BJP.

“The BJP and JD(U) together have seven Lok Sabha MPs from EBC,” the deputy CM added.
