PATNA: Controversial RJD nominee for Madhepura Lok Sabha seat and former Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and a key accused in CPM MLA, Ajit Sircar murder case surrendered in court of ADJ XI, Jayant Kumar Sen here on Tuesday. He was sent on judicial remand to Beur Central Jail till November 2.
A petition was filed on behalf of Pappu Yadav by his counsel in the court for seeking to surrender before the court in the light of the stay of his bail by a Supreme Court bench along with another petition for proper medical treatment of the wound in his leg.
The court directed Beur Jail superintendent to arrange for his proper medical examination and treatment.
Yadav sporting yellow T-shirt arrived in court campus in a Maruti Baleno car along with another co-accused in same case Govindganj MLA, Rajan Tiwary in a carcade piloted by a group of more than two dozen motorcyclists sharp at 1.52 pm from western gate of the court.
Tiwary who is already under judicial custody in Beur jail was also in the same carcade in a black air conditioned Bolero Jeep along with police party deputed for escorting him from Beur Jail to court and back.
Lensmen, who were waiting at the western gate of the court compound to capture his surrender in the court, first encountered Yadav''s carcade. Yadav with a large number of his supporters flanked by lensmen reached in the court room at 2.10 pm.
As soon as both Sirkar murder accused, Yadav and Tiwary, entered the court room along with the lensmen and their supporters ADJ, Sen ordered them not to take photograph the court room.
The court accepting Yadav''s petition sent him on judicial remand to Beur jail till November 2. Custody warrant of Yadav was signed and the two accused were handed over to the police to take them back to Beur Central Jail.
After coming out of the court room Yadav gave an extensive interview to the media in which he boasted of his sure victory from Madhepura Lok Sabha seat where he claimed that he reigns the heart of the downtrodden.
He said that both Lalu Prasad and his wife would ensure his victory. He said that it was third time when he would be contesting Lok Sabha polls from behind the bar.
Yadav wondered as to who are the forces providing financial help to meet heavy expenses involved in appeal in Supreme Court appeal to a poor person like Kalyan Sircar, brother of slain CPM MLA, Ajit Sirkar.
He said that his political opponents were doing it to harass him. He said that Madhepura Lok Sabha polls would be conducted under heavy security in a peaceful way.
