Patna: Over 12,000 nominated mathematics and science teachers from classes VI to VIII across Bihar successfully completed a five-day residential training programme organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Bihar. This statewide initiative, conducted in three phases between Nov 17 and Dec 5, was designed to reinforce experiential and skill-based education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The capacity-building programme focused on developing project-based learning (PBL) pedagogy to foster experiential and inquiry-based classroom practices. Teachers were trained to create PBL-based lesson plans and understood how this approach helps bridge learning gaps identified by assessment institutions such as PARAKH.
The training sessions also covered supplementary topics, including gender sensitivity, ICT integration and STEM education, enhancing the teachers’ holistic educational perspective.
Observations by the Mantra Social Services team, which collaborated in developing the module and training process, increased the programme’s effectiveness. Officials said the sessions were well-aligned, featured rich hands-on activities, and saw active engagement from participants in group and collaborative work.
This comprehensive training ensures that teachers can implement meaningful, joyful, and inquiry-based teaching, expected to significantly enrich students’ learning experiences, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving abilities.
