Patna: The six-day orientation-cum-induction programme of the newly admitted BTech students of Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P) commenced on Friday with verification of their documents by the faculty advisers of different departments.
As many as 585 students, including nearly 170 girls, have been admitted in different branches of IIT-P this year.
All these students would get a glimpse into their campus life in the orientation-cum-induction programme being held at the new central lecture hall complex of the institute.
On Saturday, the programme will begin with the address of the IIT-P director T N Singh followed by academic dean A K Thakur and other dignitaries from the institute. It will be followed by talks by eminent personalities from various walks of life.
Experts like Chanchal Kumar, managing director of NHIDCL, Abhayanand, former DGP of Bihar and Hemant Pande, executive director, ACM India will enlighten the students on topics like “engineering challenges in the country”, “physic to police”, and “computing, ACM and you”. A few alumni of IIT-Patna, including Gagandeep Singh and Amulya Yadav, will also join the programme and share their experiences with the newcomers and motivate them to carry on the legacy of the institute.
Besides these inspiring lectures, there would be sessions aimed at familiarizing the students with the rules and regulations of the institute and to make them aware of the various student societies, technical and cultural clubs of the
IIT.
