It will also minimize delay in processing of the application forms.
During the inaugural briefing, chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited (BSPHCL) CMD Pratyaya Amrit were also present.
Talking to entrepreneurs and industrialists present on the occasion, the chief secretary asked them the reason behind the low number of HT consumers (around 1,500) in the state. He was told that only large industrial units needed HT connections. He then urged the businessmen to come up with such ventures, promising all support by the state government.
Though the online connection facility was formally launched on Thursday morning, the option of "Apply for New Connection HT" was not available on websites of the two subsidiaries of BSPHCL - North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and SBPDCL - till Thursday evening.
During the launch, SBPDCL officials said one will have to log on to the website of the concerned subsidiary of BSPHCL and then click on the link "Apply for new connection HT". One could then follow the steps, including payment and uploading necessary documents and photographs. SMS and e-mail alerts will be sent to the applicant as soon as s/he selects a convenient date for inspection. That apart, the applicants can also check the status of their application online on the same portal.
