Sasaram DSP Vinod Rawat has confirmed the death.
SHO of Sanjhauli police station, S A Ansari, said the Nokha police came to know about the incident on Saturday morning and sent the body for post-mortem to a local hospital.
Police said some youths resorted to celebratory firing in an inebriated state at the function, killing Singh and injuring three more people, including a close relative of the groom. Singh, father of a six-month-old baby, succumbed to his injury on way to the hospital.
Rakesh Kumar Singh, elder brother of the deceased, alleged that instead of taking legal action, police asked them to dispose of the body clandestinely. “We brought the body to our home, about 20km from the spot, and informed the local police,” he alleged.
Nokha SHO Rajesh Kumar, however, denied the charge and said police were trying to identify the culprits and arrest them.
