Aurangabad: Nyaya Mitras in Aurangabad staged a peaceful protest on Saturday under the banner of the District Nyaya Mitra Association, demanding an increase in their honorarium.
The protest march began from the District Lawyers’ Association premises and culminated at the collectorate. Addressing the reporters, advocate Satish Kumar Snehi said a delegation of nyaya mitras met the DM and sub-divisional magistrate and submitted a memorandum addressed to the CM.
District Nyaya Mitra Association president Uday Kumar Sinha and secretary Satish Kumar Singh said the primary demand highlighted in the memorandum was an enhancement of honorarium. They added that the district administration assured them that the demand letter would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Patna for necessary action.
The nyaya mitras said they have been rendering valuable services in resolving disputes in gram kachaharis for the past 18 years, but their remuneration has remained unchanged, leading to widespread discontent among them.
