"She fell unconscious on Tuesday afternoon and regained her senses only at 5 am today (Wednesday)," Nirmalendu's elder brother Shubhlendu told TOI on Wednesday.
He added that his mother was a patient of low blood pressure and has been suffering ever since the news was broken to her.
"Medicines are being administered to her from time to time so that her condition doesn't deteriorate," he said.
Sitting in her room, surrounded by relatives consoling her, Savita wasn't in a position to talk to anyone on Wednesday.
"She has been refusing to take food," remarked one of them. All that she did was look towards the door, hoping that her son might just be the next to arrive home.
Nirmalendu's father O P Diwakar said he contacted former minister Shyam Rajak, a close relative, to help them trace their child.
"Police officials told us that they are trying their best to trace Nirmalendu. We just hope they succeed so that our son comes back home," he said.
The family members, denied that they had received any ransom call in this connection and said they had no clue of where Nirmalendu was.
