No change in weather likely, Sabour coldest place in Bihar

Biting cold and foggy weather continued on Friday as Sabour in Bhagalpur remained the coldest place in the state on the second consecutive day as the minimum temperature there was recorded at 6 degrees C. Other places where the morning minimum was recorded considerably low included Pusa in Samastipur (6.8 degrees C), Banka (6.9), Gaya (7.2), Begusarai (8.2) and Patna (9.2). The average minimum temperature hovered in the range of 7-9 degrees C.

PATNA: Biting cold and foggy weather continued on Friday as Sabour in Bhagalpur remained the coldest place in the state on the second consecutive day as the minimum temperature there was recorded at 6 degrees C. Other places where the morning minimum was recorded considerably low included Pusa in Samastipur (6.8 degrees C), Banka (6.9), Gaya (7.2), Begusarai (8.2) and Patna (9.2).

The average minimum temperature hovered in the range of 7-9 degrees C.
Night and morning hours remained shivery as the minimum temperature was recorded below 10 degrees C mark at most places in the state in the last couple of days.
"Moist easterly winds are blowing in north Bihar while (cold) north-westerly winds are blowing in northern parts of the state. The convergence of the two winds along with cyclonic circulation in central India is likely to increase night or minimum temperature by two to four notches over the next two days," said Neha Kumari, an official at Patna Meteorological Centre.
Temperature apart, light to moderate intensity of fog cover was witnessed at Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Valmiki Nagar among other places in the morning with visibility less than 1km. The lowest visibility was witnessed at Purnia at 150 metres.

The Patna Meteorological Centre also issued yellow coloured warning for dense fog likely at isolated places in eastern parts of the state on Saturday. "Most places in the state are likely to witness light to moderate fog over the next five days," Neha said, adding that people are advised to protect themselves from cold, especially in morning and evening hours.
Weathermen also ruled out any major changes in temperature levels over the next couple of days. The maximum temperature hovered in the range of 19-21 degrees C at most places in the state.
Cold day condition was witnessed at Motihari and Supaul. Cold day condition is declared at a place when minimum temperature touches 10 degrees C or low and there is a departure of 4.5-6.4 degrees C in maximum temperature on two consecutive days.
