Nitish reposes trust in Sanjay, re-appoints him as JD(U) no. 2
Patna: JD(U) on Wednesday released a fresh list of its national office-bearers, with Sanjay Kumar Jha, a close aide of JD(U) president and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar, retaining the post of national working president.
What surprised everyone was the name of Nitish’s son Nishant Kumar missing from the list of office-bearers. Only last month, he had joined the JD(U) and was expected to get a key place in the organisation. This new list prepared by Nitish has altogether 24 members and was formed after the party boss entered the Rajya Sabha.
Yet another notable point is that the list contains five Muslim members, which include Afaque Ahmad Khan, Kankashan Perveen, Ghulam Rasool Baliyawi, Mohammad Nissar and Ruhi Tamoom, indicating Nitish’s outreach to the politically-significant minority class.
Former MP Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi is the only national vice-president in the list, while another parliamentarian, Alok Kumar Suman, is the treasurer.
There are altogether 12 general secretaries in the list, including former IAS officer and Nitish’s close aide Manish Kumar Verma. Others in the list of general secretaries include Afaque Ahmad Khan, Shyam Rajak, Ashok Chaudhary, Ramesh Singh Kushwaha, Ramsevak Singh, Kahkashan Parween, Kapil Harishchandra Patil, Raj Singh Man, Sunil Kumar, alias Engineer Sunil, Harshvardhan Singh and Maulana Gulam Rasool Balyawi.
Rajeev Ranjan Prasad has been appointed as the spokesperson-cum-secretary of the party. Others appointed as secretaries include Ravindra Prasad Singh, Vidhya Sagar Nishad, Dayanand Rai, Sanjay Kumar, Mohammad Nisar, Ruhi and Nivedita Kumari.
