Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday launched development projects worth more than Rs 816 crore in Saharsa and Khagaria districts during the third leg of his ‘Samriddhi Yatra’.
Of the total, projects worth Rs 512 crore were launched in Saharsa district, while projects worth Rs 304 crore were dedicated to Khagaria district.
In Saharsa, the CM inaugurated 70 projects costing Rs 286 crore, laid the foundation stone for 20 projects worth Rs 90 crore and commenced work on 35 other projects costing Rs 136 crore. These were launched through remote plaque unveiling from the event venue at Shahpur Ward No. 7 in the Kosi divisional headquarters.
In Khagaria, Nitish inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 319 development projects worth Rs 304 crore from Sansarpur Maidan through remote plaque unveiling. The package included the inauguration of 284 projects costing Rs 261 crore and the foundation laying of 35 schemes worth Rs 43 crore.
Starting his tour from the Kosi divisional headquarters, the CM inspected several ongoing and completed works in Saharsa district as part of the ‘Samriddhi Yatra’. During the review, he sought updates from officials on the implementation of announcements made during his earlier ‘Pragati Yatra’ and directed them to ensure speedy completion of pending works.
Among the key sites inspected in Saharsa were the beautification and development works at Mandan Mishra Dham and Maa Ugratara Mandir, construction of a stadium at Mauza-Hasa Hakpara, the progress of the Storm Water Drainage Scheme Phase-2 under Nagar Nigam Saharsa and tourist beautification and development work at Matsyagandha Lake. At each site, he instructed officials to complete the projects at the earliest.
The CM also inaugurated the Shahpur Jeevika Sewing-cum-Production Centre at Ward No. 7 in Shahpur, Saharsa, by cutting the ribbon. He handed over the keys of the Jeevika Didi sewing house to members of the self-help group and inspected the facility. During the visit, he inquired about sewing, cutting and garment quality.
Jeevika Didis thanked the CM and said the initiative had enabled them to pursue self-employment, benefiting their families.
In Khagaria town, Nitish inspected the heightening, strengthening and blacktopping work of the town protection embankment near Arun Madhya Vidyalaya. He sought detailed information from officials about the progress of the embankment and also reviewed the status of projects announced during the ‘Pragati Yatra’ in the district.
He asked the officials concerned to complete all development works properly within the stipulated timeframe, saying roads and bridges would improve traffic flow and save both time and fuel.
