Nitish launches key projects worth over Rs 11,213 crore
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Monday launched a series of development projects worth over Rs 11,213 crore for three departments during separate programmes in Digha area, Maurya Lok complex and the Bihar Animal Sciences University campus in Patna. Many of the projects are based in Patna district.
At the road construction department’s programme in Digha, the CM laid the foundation stone for the extension of the J P Ganga Path from Digha to Sherpur-Bihta, up to the approach road to Koilwar Bridge. The project, costing Rs 6,495 crore, will cover 35km.
“Once completed, this extension will improve connectivity to the Patna-Ara-Buxar National Highway (NH-922), the Purvanchal Expressway between Lucknow and Ghazipur, and the Ara-Mohania National Highway (NH-319). It will also ease congestion on the Danapur-Chhitnawan-Maner road (old NH-30). Access to the National Institute of Technology, Patna, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, will be improved, as well as travel to and from Bihta airport,” said a communique from the chief minister’s office.
From the same platform, Nitish also laid the foundation stone for five other road projects meant for various districts, totalling 225km in length at a cost of Rs 2,900 crore.
At the urban development and housing department’s programme held at Maurya Lok complex, the CM laid the foundation for 1,300 projects across 33 districts under the chief minister’s comprehensive urban development scheme, worth Rs 769 crore.
He also launched the reconstruction and restoration of roads in the Patna Municipal Corporation area at a cost of Rs 124 crore and the construction of six mechanised garbage transfer stations for solid waste management, worth Rs 69 crore.
Under the Patna Smart City plan, Nitish inaugurated new facilities in the Maurya Lok complex at an investment of Rs 15 crore by unveiling a plaque. He inspected the newly constructed ‘Maurya Mandapam’ and handed over appointment letters to 22 city managers, symbolically presenting them to Neetu Kumari, Varsha Kumari, Nishan Parveen, Ritesh Kumar and Ashish Ranjan.
At the third event, organised at the Bihar Animal Sciences University campus, Nitish unveiled foundation stones and inaugurated projects worth over Rs 839 crore under the animal and fisheries resources department. He also inaugurated and inspected the newly built boys’ hostel at the university campus.
