Nitish Kumar is Bihar CM mainly because of Lalu Prasad's support, says Amar Singh
PATNA: Samajwadi Party (SP) general secretary Amar Singh on Saturday said JD-U president Nitish Kumar is CM of Bihar mainly because of support of RJD boss Lalu Prasad.
"Jis Satta ke sihashan par Nitish baithe huye hai, uske charo paya ka naam Lalu Prasad hai (Lalu Prasad is the name of all four pillars of the throne of power on which Nitish is sitting today)," Singh told reporters at Patna airport. The SP leader arrived here on way to Gaya to offer 'pind-daan' during Pitrapaksha.
Lauding the RJD supremo, Singh also said, "It is a greatness of Lalu Prasad that he has made Nitish Kumar, who had sent him to jail, the CM of Bihar."
Describing the SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as one and only "Sher of Uttar Pradesh" (Lion of Uttar Pradesh), Singh said the way Lalu Prasad had extended support to his Samadhi for UP assembly elections, Nitish's strength in the poll-bound state has reduced to half.
To a question, the SP general secretary also said that neither Lalu nor Nitish had any popular base in any part of UP. "Mulayam Singh ji is the one and only 'Sher of UP'," he said.
He said, in UP elections Nitish Kumar might go a separate way, but Lalu would not go against his Samadhi.
Singh later went to Gaya to offer 'pind-daan' to his forefathers on the occasion of Pitrapaksha.
