Nitish inspects development projects in Patna
Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday inspected several ongoing construction projects announced during his ‘Pragati Yatra’, reviewing widening and drainage works on Nehru Path from the Rupsapur Canal to Saguna Mor, along with progress on links connecting Digha–AIIMS Patali Path, Pataliputra Railway Station and JP Ganga Path.
During the inspection, officials of the road construction department (RCD) briefed the CM on the progress of the works. “This project involves the widening and strengthening of a 2.70km stretch of Nehru Path, along with the construction of extensive underground drains on both sides,” an official said on Saturday.
The nearly 10km-long Nehru Path—widely known as Bailey Road (originally spelt Bayley Road, after the first Lt Governor of Bihar and Orissa, Sir Charles Stuart Bayley)—is a vital artery in the state capital, connecting Dak Bungalow Chauraha to Saguna Mor near Danapur.
After inspecting the widening work on Nehru Path, the CM, accompanied by water resources and parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, reviewed the connectivity work from the Digha–AIIMS Patali Path to Nehru Path near Rupsapur Canal Road. RCD officials also briefed him on the connectivity plan linking Pataliputra Railway Station, Nehru Path and Ashok Rajpath.
Nitish also inspected the beautification work underway on JP Ganga Path near Digha Golambar.
Issuing instructions to officials, the CM said the works must be completed properly within the stipulated timeframe. “Once these works are completed, vehicular movement will be smoother and more convenient. People will get relief from traffic jams,” he said.
The CM’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, RCD secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal, secretary to the CM Chandrashekhar Singh, district magistrate Thiyagarajan S M and other senior officials were present during the inspection.
