Nitish hails rail, waterways and industrial push for Bihar in Union Budget
Patna: Terming the Union Budget as “progressive and forward-looking”, CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday said it would help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat.
In a post on X, he said the Budget had been presented keeping in mind the country’s goals of building a developed India.
“The Budget is positive and welcome. The Union govt has presented this budget keeping in mind the goals of building a developed India. This Budget is progressive and forward-looking. Through this Budget, the Centre took several important steps to accelerate the pace of the country's development,” Nitish said in the post in Hindi, adding, “I thank Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and finance minister Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman Ji for presenting an excellent Budget.”
“This time in the Budget, it was announced that the construction of seven high-speed rail corridors will take place across the country. Among these, the Varanasi-Siliguri high-speed rail corridor will greatly benefit Bihar. Also, the Budget announced the creation of 20 new national waterways. Under this, ship repair facilities will be provided in Patna and Varanasi. The expansion of waterways will benefit several cities in Bihar, enhance export facilities for the state's products, and boost commercial and business activities,” the CM said.
“Setting up large textile parks across the country and the Mahatma Gandhi Self-Employment Scheme was also announced in the Budget. The Budget announced support of Rs 40,000 crore for semiconductors. This will create new employment opportunities for youth across the country, including Bihar, and enable the country's economic development to proceed at a faster pace,” he said.
“It was announced in the Budget that special focus will be given to Purvodaya states and the North-Eastern region to accelerate development and employment opportunities. The development plans associated with this will provide Bihar with industrial investment, infrastructure, and more employment opportunities for youth. Also, the provisions made in the Budget for urban development will give new momentum to urbanisation in Bihar. This will expand infrastructure, investment, and employment opportunities in the state's cities,” he added.
“This year’s Budget announced the construction of one girls’ hostel in every district of the country. This will greatly facilitate girls in pursuing higher education,” the CM added.
