Bodh Gaya Nagar Parishad executive officer Abhishek Anand said, "There is a plan to set up machines which would convert certain waste materials into organic manure. At the same time, waste materials like iron, brass, copper and plastic will be sold to the related industrial units, while other materials can be used as fuel in cement manufacturing factories. Thus, generating revenue for the civic body," Abhishek said. At present, the garbage collected in Bodh Gaya is dumped at Naili, around 7km from the heritage city. However, acknowledging the request made by the civic body office and the public representatives, the district magistrate Thiyagarajan SM has instructed Bodh Gaya circle officer to make available five acres of land to the civic body.

"The land has already been identified. Once it is transferred to the civic body, a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared for setting up the solid waste management unit.

On the basis of DPR, a request will be sent to the state urban development department to make available required resources for the purpose," Abhishek said.
