formed about 5km-long human chain under the limits of Matihani Nagar Palika in Mahottari district of the nation. The people led by its mayor Hari Prasad Mandal joined hands with the officials and the residents of the villages close to the Nepal border in Madhubani district to show their solidarity in protecting the environment.

Harlakhi MLA Sushanshu Shekhar, senior ADM Durganand Jha and officers of the local police station played an important role in inspiring the people from neighbouring country to be part of the human chain. Senior ADM Jha said people from Mahottari district in Nepal actively participated in the human chain along with the residents of border district in Bihar. Jha, who is posted in Madhubani, was leading the human chain programme in the district.

The residents from both sides exchanged pleasantries and offered Mithila’s ‘paag’. The personnel of Nepal police, known as ‘prahari’, were also present on the occasion. “This shows our close relations with people of Nepal,” the senior ADM said.
