PATNA: The NDA would launch a countrywide campaign from December 22 against the Congress-led UPA at the Centre for refusing to honour the opposition's demand in Parliament for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the
2G spectrum scam that is worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore.
In this regard, national BJP spokesman and party's Bhagalpur MP Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said on Saturday that the Congress and its allies in Parliament stymied the opposition's persistent demand in this regard, and therefore, the Congress should be held responsible for the wastage of the entire winter session of Parliament, as the House business could not be conducted at all.
He said that the 2G spectrum was the biggest scam that has occurred in the country. In the circumstances, the opposition's demand for a JPC probe into the matter was valid in keeping with popular sentiments and also for the fact that Parliament was the highest forum as representative of the popular will on any matter, he said, adding that the Congress' rejection of the JPC probe amounted to undermining Parliament and popular will.
According to him, the NDA has decided to take the entire matter to the people, and accordingly, its leaders would fan out to different parts of the country to apprise the people of entire gamut of the issues involved with regard to the opposition's demand for the JPC probe. The aim was to expose the Congress' bid to protect people indulging in corrupt practices, Hussain said.
