CHHAPRA: A Class XII student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Deoti, allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling near the main gate of his hostel on Wednesday night.

Police found a suicide note in which the student, Ashish alias Rohit (17), mentioned about facing anxieties regarding progress of his studies and sought pardons from his parents. The student was the son of Krishna Rai, a resident of Telpa Mohalla near Chhapra police lines. Rai is a former councillor of Chhapra’s ward number 36.

School principal Samar Ketu said the truth behind the incident would be ascertained only after a police investigation. He said Ashish had appeared for the ongoing examination on Wednesday. SHO of Parsa police station, Sunil Kumar, and Dariapur PS SHO Tamir Alam visited the community health centre where the student was declared dead.
