patna: a number of programmes were organised by different socio-cultural organisations in the city to celebrate vivekanand's birth anniversary on saturday. the day is observed as national youth day. a procession was taken out from the ramkrishna mission ashram, r k avenue, to the vivekanand park located in the maurya lok complex. later the procession converted into a meeting.
those who spoke on the occasion included a g kalmankar, chief general manager, sbi and s n das, former pro-vice chancellor of patna university. kalmankar released a magazine of the ashram on the occasion. the patna university unit of national service scheme also celebrated the day on the campus of the university. vice chancellor k k jha said the students should take an inspiration from the life and teachings of vivekanand. an organisation, nav bibhuti kendra, organised a cultural programme on the premises of rashtrabhasa parishad in saidpur area. santosh yadav, who has scaled the mount everest, participated at a function organised at the ravindra bhavan by premalok mission school. the students of sir ganesh dutt pataliputra school took out a procession in the kadamkuan area to make the people aware about the teachings of vivekanand. another procession was taken out under the banner of bihar pradesh rashtravadi yuwa congress.
