PATNA: Last-minute preparations are going on in full swing for the Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) namaz to be offered at Gandhi Maidan on Saturday. Common people will not be allowed to enter the ground after 10am on Friday till the namaz is offered at 8am on Saturday.
“In case of heavy rainfall or any other untoward incident, the devotees have been advised to offer namaz in the mosque,” Eidan committee president
Mahmood Alam said on Thursday, adding at Haj Bhavan, the namaz would be offered at 7.30am.
According to Patna district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, magistrates will be deployed at all gates of
Gandhi Maidan and on major roads of the city. “Devotees will be allowed to enter the ground after thorough frisking by the security personnel. Monitoring will also be done through CCTV cameras. Besides, there will be proper drinking water facility and ambulances in case of an untoward incident,” the DM told TOI.
Agarwal also instructed Patna Municipal Corporation workers to get big holes filled with soil at Gandhi Maidan. They were formed because of barricading done for Sunday’s RJD rally. “The city civic body has been told to clear stagnant water using motor pumps in case of rainfall and waterlogging inside the maidan,” said Agarwal.
