The keys of the shop and some documents were in the bag. There was only Rs 900 in the wallet. When my father resisted, they fired upon him. I took him to a nearby private hospital with the help of a local resident from where he was referred him to SKMCH. But seeing his condition deteriorating, I took him to sadar hospital quickly where doctors declared him brought dead.”
DSP (west) Krishna Murari Prasad confirmed the incident. He said that four persons have been taken into custody in the wee hours on Wednesday.
The jewellers’ association alleged that police were doing nothing to curb the crime. “Last night’s incident is the third one in the last 10 days. If this trend continues and no arresting is made, we will launch a massive protest,” said chairperson of the association, Chandrika Thakur.
