Patna: Several Muslim organisations, led by Imarat-e-Shariah, on Thursday demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation, a govt job for the wife, and education and healthcare support for the children of Mohammad Athar Hussain, who was allegedly lynched in Nawada district earlier this month.
Athar, a clothing dealer, was allegedly assaulted in Bhatta village on December 5. He was reportedly asked his name to con
firm his identity before being beaten. He succumbed to his injuries on December 12 while undergoing treatment.
Addressing a press conference in Phulwarisharif, the Nazim of Imarat-e-Shariah, Mufti Mohammad Saeedul Rahman Qasmi, described the incident as extremely grave and demanded strict punishment for those involved.
"The culprits should be tried in a fast-track court and awarded exemplary punishment," he said.
Representatives of Jamiat-e-Islami Hind, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Idar-e-Shariah and other organisations were present and appealed to the authorities to take concrete measures to curb the rising crime rate in Bihar.
